CFINE operates a FareShare franchise distributing food to around 70 organisations in the North East of Scotland which are accessed by people experiencing food poverty.
Benefits of FareShare
- diverting produce that is perfectly good from landfill reaping significant environmental benefit
- affording the food industry the opportunity to exercise corporate responsibility and work in partnership with the voluntary sector;
improved diet for vulnerable/disadvantaged/excluded groups of people - saving beneficiary organisations money from their food budgets which can be diverted to other purposes
- saving individuals and families money
- since the start of Fareshare Aberdeen in April 2007, 180 tonnes of produce has been delivered to our beneficiaries. Wiseman Dairies have been a great local support by providing us with regular deliveries of milk and other dairy produce.
Volunteers Delivery Drivers Needed
Volunteer delivery drivers are key players in the FareShare projects – would you be interested in giving some time? Do you know someone who would?
The benefits of volunteering – confidence and self esteem, feel good factor, skill acquisition, reduced isolation/increased social contact etc.
