We are delighted to see Scotland taking the lead in ending period poverty by providing access to free sanitary products for everyone who needs them. The Period Products (Free Provision) (Scotland) Bill has been passed unanimously by The Scottish Parliament. This means that Scotland will be the first country in the world to ensure there is access to free period products for anyone who needs them.
We are proud to have been an advocate of tackling period poverty since 2017. CFINE successfully hosted the Access to Free Sanitary Products pilot in 2017 and have been making free period products accessible in partnership with the Scottish Government through FareShare, and Aberdeen City Council ever since.

An important element of this initiative is destigmatising menstruation, which is a natural function. The lack of appropriate protection is a concerning health and wellbeing issue.

As part of our work towards ending period poverty, CFINE has also been making reusable period products accessible, such as menstruation cups and reusable towels, and delivered reusable period product training in the local community.

A massive thank you to all our partners, volunteers and staff who have worked on the Access to Free Period Products Project.
