Aberdeen Community Food Network (previously known as Aberdeen City Food Network) was formed in June 2014. It formed from a range of organisations delivering practical food skills across Aberdeen. The group agreed that working in partnership around practical food skills could be beneficial to ensure resources were used effectively to develop and raise the profile of practical food skills, services and facilities across the city. From this initial meeting, an action plan, role and remit was created.

In 2018, the network agreed a proposal to expand to include a wider membership, joining up with existing networks (including Aberdeen's Community Cafe Network, individuals involved in community growing and volunteers involved in wider food services) and to take a wider remit - involving all things community food.
