Spending a week at CFINE has been a very fun experience for me.  For most of the week, I have been working in the food bank giving food to those who need it.  I have met individuals ranging from people who are homeless to people who had recently left HMP Grampian and have learned a lot about their lives.  I have learned a lot about how the food bank operates and how much of an impact it has on the lives of others.  The atmosphere at CFINE has been very welcoming and I feel so lucky to have been able to work with the volunteers in the food bank.

I also spent time typing information from the forms filled in by those who use the food bank into a database.  This has made me more aware of the variety of people which rely on CFINE and has allowed me to see the vast number of people who use the food bank daily.  I was also shown around the other aspects of CFINE and learned about the many other projects which the charity organises; ranging from 'Food and Fun' - a project to feed school children who rely on school dinners during the Summer Holidays, to supplying children aged between 0 – 5 with clothes.  This allowed me to see beyond the food bank and made me aware of the many ways in which CFINE can provide help to those who need it.

I am so grateful to have been able to work at CFINE for a week and for the new skills and knowledge I have gained from the five days I have spent here.  The experience has been very enjoyable and I hope to come back as a volunteer in the future.

Holly, Work Experience - CFINE

(Holly and other volunteers accept a donation raised at Aberdeen City Council's Star Awards)

From all of us here at CFINE, we'd like to thank Holly for all her hard work this week. She's been willing to get stuck in with any tasks she's come across and has been an asset to the team. We hope to see you back in the future!
