Hellebores flower in late winter and on into early spring. Bees like the large and showy flowers. Colours vary from deep purple to white. They grow well in moist soil in full or part shade, but flower better with more light and are quite happy in full sun.
Many varieties suffer from a disease that causes the leaves to blacken, so they are cut off before the flower stalks start to show, usually late December or early January. No other maintenance is required.
