Cook at the Nook

Join our free cooking classes to learn new skills!

We established the Cook at the Nook training kitchen in 2016 to create a community space where anyone can master cooking a variety of budget-friendly meals. Cooking is a vital life skill, and we firmly believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn how to cook delicious, affordable and nutritious meals.

CFINE's Cooking on a Budget

Our "Cooking on a Budget" class is designed to teach people practical cooking skills and techniques that can help them create healthy and tasty meals whilst staying within a limited budget. The kitchen has 8 workstations, and it is fully equipped with cooking appliances. The classes typically cover topics such as meal planning, smart shopping, using seasonal produce, reducing food waste, and making the most of affordable ingredients.

Participants in CFINE's "Cooking on a Budget" class can expect hands-on cooking demonstrations, they will learn how to safely use equipment, learn new skills and knife techniques, how to follow a recipe and adapt those recipes to suit their budget and dietary requirements. These classes provide a supportive and inclusive environment, where participants can exchange ideas and experiences, fostering a sense of community and empowerment.

CFINE's other services

At CFINE, we have a range of different services available to help you get through the challenges that you are facing. Although cooking and healthy eating is a fantastic start, we can also help you access low-cost, nutritious food, benefit advice, tips on improving your household finances and skills training. These are; however, optional and you can decide if you’d like to access these other services.
