News and events News Tuk In At Grampian Pride 2018 Aberdeen’s L.G.B.T+ community came together on Saturday to celebrate Grampian Pride 2018, and celebrate they did! CFINE were asked to serve tea’s and coffee’s at the Pride Village. We didn’t need to be asked twice! Diversity and equality are part of CFINE’s raison d’etre so we were chuffed to be asked. One of our volunteers Donald approached me 2 weeks before the event to ask what we were doing for a float. Until that point I hadn’t even considered a float – we rushed a call to the organisers to find out how possible it would be for Tuk In to get a spot; very possible came the reply. So, Donald set about teaching himself how to operate a sewing machine (poor guy slogged his guts out, much to his partner David’s vexation), finding flags and appropriate attire. As you can see from the pictures, he did a magnificent job. On the big day the Tuk In Bear was loved by one and all, and travelling down Union Street as part of the parade was awe inspiring. The crowds had come out in their thousands, Union Street was awash with Rainbow Flags of every description (including our Bear Pride Flag). Next up was the Pride Village, people were queueing up the Boulevard as far as the eye could see. The whole place started to fill up really quick with revellers of all ages, sizes, colours, gender identities and sexualities enjoying the music and entertainment on offer. Tuk In was busy all day and raised about £250 that will be used to support our charitable work. We would like to thank the organisers for inviting us, and we look forward to Grampian Pride 2019!
