Food Drive for CFINE

Heavenly Dancers Christmas Food Drive 2023

In December 2023, the Aberdeen Football Club supporters’ group ‘The Heavenly Dancers’, organised a food drive to support CFINE’s food bank. Organised by Sean Lawson, a long-time fan of Aberdeen and supporter of CFINE, the drive was held on a cold windy Saturday morning in December.

The day started with Sean and Scott from CFINE heading down to Pittodrie to meet the lads and lasses from ‘The Heavenly Dancers’, they arrived at 10am to find a crew of about 20 waiting for them. Despite the cold, there was a steady flow of people throughout the four hours, which was even more impressive given the cold, and that there was no match on that day.

They stopped as planned at 2pm, loaded up the van, and the group headed off for a warmup. The two CFINE staff took the load to the office to be sorted and weighed on Monday morning. In total, this group of community superheroes collected approx. a ton of food, thousands of nappies, and a load of toiletries. This is the equivalent of 2,500 meals and made a huge difference to our stocks at Christmas.

Well done Sean Lawson and the Heavenly Dancers!!!

Despite this, with the level demand faced by emergency food services in Aberdeen, we are always looking to fill our food bank, so we are asking people to dig deep and support CFINE in any way you can.

How can I help I hear you say!

  • Donate non-perishable food items. Canned goods, pasta, rice, cereal etc. are appreciated. You can drop items in supermarkets around the town, you’ll find a collection point in Tesco Torry (Wellington Road), Tesco Westhill and Sainsburys Berryden
  • Host a food drive in your neighbourhood, school, or workplace. Rally others to get involved.
  • Volunteer to help collect, transport, or sort donations. Many hands make light work.
  • Spread the word on social media and in your community. The more participation, the better.
  • Donate money through our website
  • Come see us at Pittodrie on the 17th of February on the RDS concourse, we’ll be there for Trust Day with AFC Community Trust.

Thank you!

  • Your donations will provide meals for local families in need. Food insecurity impacts many right here in our community.
  • Giving food is an easy way to make a real difference in someone's life. A little goes a long way.
  • Food drives bring people together for a common cause. It's a great way to unite our community.
  • Let's show our community spirit once again and help fill CFINE's shelves. No matter how much or little you can give, every item counts. Together we can ensure no one goes hungry.
