The Food Insecurity Resource Space is live now!
The Food Insecurity Resource Space is now live. The resource space has been developed in partnership with the Community Food National Reference Group to share information related to local and national Cash First approaches to tackling food insecurity and poverty.
The Community Food National Reference Group is a partnership between CFINE, Edinburgh Community Food, Glasgow Community Food Network and Lanarkshire Community Food & Health Partnership.

What is a Cash First approach?
Cash First approaches are a range of interventions that provide immediate support to people in crisis. Cash first approaches prioritise income maximisation through supporting people directly with money, pathways to money or vouchers. This approach is a more dignified form of support for people facing hardship than traditional food support.
Supporting with a Cash First approach provides people with flexibility to decide what their immediate needs are. For example, people may use it to buy essential shopping, school shoes for their children, pay energy bulls or pay debts to help them create a more secure financial footing. Being supported by a Cash First approach can have an immediate impact on people’s life.
