CFINE's Voter Registration Campaign

Posted 19th Jun 2024 · News

CFINE ran a drop-in voter registration service in the two weeks leading up to the 18th of June deadline to register. This was as part of the Poverty Alliance’s campaign to make sure that 300,000 eligible voters wouldn’t lose their right to vote because they aren't registered.

Their campaign 'Vote your values!' stated:

"In a democracy, everyone's voice matters equally. So it's completely unjust that so many people on lower incomes get shut out from using their vote. This General Election looks set to be the most unequal for more than six decades, due to a ballooning turnout gap at elections and the growing role of money in British politics, according to a recent report from IPPR."

CFINE's campaign was run by our financial advice team – SAFE (Support Advice Finance Education). SAFE team staff, and social work students on placement from Robert Gordon University, engaged with users of our food bank which provided 38, 205 emergency food parcels in 2023/24.

Final statistics from the 2-week campaign

In total the SAFE Team engaged with 261 people and registered 50! Don't forget to vote on the 4th of July and remember to bring your voter ID! You can see approved forms of voter ID here.
