Cooking with the Warehouse Skills Development Programme – A recipe for success!

Posted 10th Feb 2026 · Blog

The participants of our Warehouse Skills Development Programme have been in the kitchen learning how to make potato wedges and pizzas!

CFINE’s Warehouse Skills Development Programme is a free 8-week programme that supports those facing long-term unemployment – and with barriers to work – to lift themselves out of benefit reliance and into a position where they can support themselves and their families.

The employability programme combines practical skills, classroom-based training and continued support from CFINE. Participants gain experience in manual handling, stock control systems, forklift training and much more. Allowing them to gain work experience, build their CV’s and build confidence to help move them closer to success in the job market.

We are currently on our 27th intake and as of February 2026, over the last four years, we have had 205 enrolled on the course, with over 117 now into paid work and 8 continuing to volunteer with us!

The programme is set up to provide all encompassing support to participants by accessing CFINE’s support services. Our SAFE Team helps participants improve financial stability by ensuring they receive the correct financial support.

Every week as part of the course, the participants get a chance to join us in Cook at the ‘Nook, CFINE’s Community Training Kitchen. Across the programme the participants build confidence in the kitchen, improving their skills and knowledge. Giving them a chance to explore different simple, budget friendly meals they can recreate at home.
